Clay Tiles

 

Description:

We were shown a presentation that talks about mosaic tiles. We were asked to make designs that were based on things that represent ourselves. Then we were asked to create a tile using 2 techniques that were shown to us (subtractive, additive, wedging, and slip and score). After we were done creating our design, we painted the tile whatever colors we would like. After that we wrote a paragraph explaining the elements of our tile. 

Extension Activity:

An extension activity would be creating tiles for each holiday. I feel this would be a fun way for kids to have a decoration in their home to help celebrate. I would include holidays that are not normally celebrated also. They would also have to research each holiday to find thing to put on their tile as well.
