2D Snowflakes
Description:
We made 3 different snowflake designs in this project. 2 of the snowflake designs were made by our teacher and one snowflake design was made by us. We folded the square paper diagonally and traced the 2 designs shown on the board. We did the same process for the last one but traced our own design. Then we cut out each snowflake and glued them on our paper. On out personal snowflake we made designs with glue and poured salt on top of the design. After that we put watercolor on top of the salt to create the fun colors on the snowflake.
Extension Activity:
I would read an article about how snowflakes are made. I will show them pictures of real snowflakes that fall from the sky. I would challenge the students to try and recreate that design of the snowflake. I would have them glued on to a string and placed around the room on the ceiling during wintertime. I would also have them write a story about how snowflakes are made in their own words.
