Dot Day

 Description:

We had a presentation explaining what Dot Day was and examples of art on Dot Day. For the project each student is given the task of creating our own dot. For this project we used coffee filters and created different patterns with different types of mediums. At the end we used watercolor to paint over the designs to reveal what was underneath.

Extension Activity:

At the end of making the project I would have the students explain their dot in 3 sentences. I would have them include what patterns they have chosen, what mediums they used, and why they chose certain colors for their dot. After that I would have the students do a gallery walk and have them look at each other's work and explanations.  At the end I would have the students pick a dot that was their favorite and explain why.
