Printmaking Ornaments

Description:

We started with sketching two designs for ornaments that were personal to use. After that, we chose one design to draw on to our square piece of paper. After that we used a circle object to trace out the shape of an ornament on to our piece of foam. We also traced out the design onto the foam too. After that we drew four lines on our construction paper. We took paint rollers and applied ink onto the rollers. Then we rolled the into onto the ornament design. Then using a clean roller, we placed the ornament ink side down onto our paper and rolled over the design. We did this process twice and then switched designs with our partners. We repeated the same process.

Extension Activity:

I would have my students do the same process for making ornaments, but I would have them make multiple of their own design on a sheet of paper. I would have them cut out each ornament on their paper and punch a hole and put string through the hole. I would have a tree in my classroom where they could hang up the ornament designs, they made.
