Van Gogh Collage
Description:
At the beginning of the lesson, we watched a presentation explaining who Van Gogh was and saw examples of their artwork. We used glue that is similar to modge podge to lay down pieces of tissue paper around our paper to create the background. We also put a layer of the glue on top to seal the tissue paper. Then with oil pastels we created different designs to put on top of the tissue paper. After that we cut out a silhouette to put on top of the two other layers. At the end we were asked to write 3 sentences of what we learned about during the Van Gogh lesson.
Extension Activity:
An extension activity would be having the students write a story using their Van Gogh art as the illustration. It would have to be a one-page story that would include characters. They would have the draw the characters in the story also. They would display their art and story in the hallway of the school.
